Well ladies and gentlemen, I think it’s safe to say that I have 100% officially lost my marbles. Granted, there have been a few tell tale signs in my life before, but this one really takes the cake.
Apparently my bringing Mom Sexy back to the blogosphere just wasn’t good enough for me. NOPE!
Because I think that I need to have my own Talk Show centered around Mom Sexy on the new Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN). And that’s why I made an audition video and uploaded it and poured my heart and soul into the online application that took me over two hours to fill out.
A little over a week ago, my good friend Michele over at The Professional Family Manager sent me a message and told me that she thought I should audition for Oprah’s contest and spin a show off my whole Mom Sexy Revolution. And as much as I appreciated her confidence in me and my idea, I really didn’t think that I had the balls to actually make the video and submit it.
But as I thought about the concept more and more, my attitude slowly started to change. Instead of thinking, “there’s no way that I could do something like that”, I started thinking:
“You know what? Women across America NEED MOM SEXY. They need to get their groove back. They need to reclaim their inner sexy. And if I don’t at least TRY to give them what they are all craving, then I’ll always wonder if I could’ve made a difference in their lives.”
And so I sucked it up and did it.
And now I need your help if the producers are going to notice me!

I will warn you in advance that my video is not perfect. But neither am I. I am, however, Mom Sexy as HELL, and being sexy is not about being perfect.
It also cuts me off at the very end, so you can’t hear me asking everyone to VOTE FOR ME!
But I really would LOVE to have the support of your vote. But please don’t vote for me because you think you have to. Vote for me because you believe as strongly as I do that moms everywhere DESERVE this show. They DESERVE this confidence boost. And they DESERVE their sexy.

I am not a mommy – nor do I even play one on TV – but I am a quasi-step-mom; not that that qualifies me as deserving of parent status, but this isn’t about me, it’s about you and your blog … I love it! One of the best things about your blog is that while it is centered around your life as the Mommy of an adorable boy and as a wife, you never lose sight of the fact that you are also a woman!
You stay true to your “mission statement” to find and share the humor in the everyday world of motherhood – even when the subject you’re writing about wouldn’t seem too funny if it happened to someone else – but you do it in such a way that you maintain your individual identity as a woman with a woman’s thoughts and needs. Your refusal to just accept the ridiculous images of motherhood portrayed by Hollywood – the return to pre-baby weight within a few weeks of giving birth; the always put-together, non-haggard and refreshed look on the faces of new mommies (not to mention the form-fitting clothing so obviously devoid of spit-up stains) – loudly, and proudly, I might add, puts voice to the “dirty little secret” so many women keep to themselves out of fear of seeming abnormal or “incompetent”: Motherhood is not an easy or glamorous job. Rather than wallow in depression, you use humor and candor to debunk the myths perpetrated by Hollywood-types, and unapologetically declare that the realities of spit-up on your shirt; bags under your eyes; using powder to keep your hair from looking too greasy from an inability to shower; etc. are hard-earned badges of honor that should be worn with pride, not shame!
My favorite thing about your blog, which really sets it apart from most other blogs of its type, is that you do not exclude or make those of us without children feel as though we are any less of a woman than those of you who are moms. I grudgingly expect my mom to occasionally give me crap about being 33 and not yet a mother, but it drives me crazy when women my age (or worse, women younger than 30) actually look down their noses at me and suddenly act like not being a mom makes me less of a person. I kid you not, some have even started talking to me more slowly using the smallest words possible, as though my IQ and reproductive history are directly linked!
Long story short (too late?): Your blog may be a guide/reminder to recognize the humor in the everyday life of a mom, as well as to embrace and even flaunt the sexiness of motherhood, but it also serves as a guide/reminder to women who aren’t moms, especially those of us who aren’t in our early 20′s, to do the same and just apply the “rules” in the way best fitting of our lives – Not to mention that when we go on to have our own little bundles, we can never say, “if only someone had told me”, LOL. I’m not quite sure what other programs OWN will broadcast, but if they give you your own show (no pun intended) it will no doubt be one of the top rated, most watched shows on the network!

You did a great job! you certainly got my vote. I do think the whole idea behind Mom Sexy is important. Somehow this myth got created that unless you are completely sacrificing your sense of self, you aren’t being a good mother. And that’s not true, nor is it good for anyone. I think your Mom Sexy posts give women the ability to give themselves permission to take some time – even if it’s just 15 minutes – to do something that makes them feel good about themselves.
On a separate note, I had no idea we had so much in common, I live in the tri state too – nj, and my little guy is also 4. good luck!
