It’s Monday, August 9th, and it’s officially time to kick off Embrace Your Body Week 2010! I’ve been so excited about this event since I announced it last week, and I am so thrilled that it’s finally here!
Too often as women, and in particular, as moms, we look in the mirror and put ourselves down on a daily basis. We make comments about our bodies such as, “My thighs are so fat.” ”I wish that I could lose my belly pooch.” ”I hate my cottage cheese ass”, and so on and so forth.
Let me ask you a question: How do you feel about yourself after you make those derogatory comments? Like shit, right? Well, Embrace Your Body Week is about getting rid of all of those negative remarks and accepting and being happy with WHO YOU ARE. Right now. At this point in your life…no matter what your shape and size may be.
Because we ALL have things about our appearance that we wish we could change. But we all have things that we love and appreciate too…even if they aren’t perfect.
Wanna know what I love about MY body? I’ve prepared a little vlog for ya!
Ok ladies, go grab your cameras and start snapping away and tell everyone what you embrace about the way you look! Write a blog post, or make a vlog, and then come back here and link up anytime this week. The McLinky will be up until Friday, August 13th.
Here is the grab button for your post:
After you link up, be sure to visit the other bloggers who have posted and leave them a bunch of compliments and remind them of their worth and how Mom Sexy and beautiful they are. This is a great way to meet some new blog peeps…and you can also help boost the self confidence of other women…and you just can’t put a price tag on that!
There is no prize this week…no winner, no Mom Sexy Blogger of the Month. This is all about spreading positivity and uplifting each others’ spirits.
I can’t wait to read each and every post!
*To my wonderful readers, I wound up having to turn on comment moderation because of a few looney tunes who were a little too fascinated by me! Thank you for understanding!

I think you look fabulous!!!!
Isn’t yoga awesome? The only time I’ve ever had muscle was when I was doing yoga all the time. I need to get back.
I love that you showed off your butt!
Love your vlog! I’m going to have to think about this one but I will be back to link up at some point this week.
I love your vlog and the reminder that I need to get back to doing yoga!
I’ve been in a not mom sexy funk, so I’ll have to think about this and see what I can come up with.
I had a mom sexy moment this week! I haven’t worn a dress outside since MIDDLE school and that was only for band/chorale concerts like twice in a year. I didn’t want to show off my legs or worry about something hugging the wrong area whatever, I decided eff that and threw on this fabulous dress and felt amazing!! I looked great, got compliments and shocked my husband at work. Come spring time no matter what size this momma is dresses are being purchased!
Love that you love your booty and jealous at small boobies! I have DDD and they are always in the way and you know that I can’t buy without trying and then altering myself lol
Great vlog! You are fantastic!!
What a great way to view my lack of cleavage… I’ll have to try to convince myself that almost non-exsistant boobs could be a great thing.
Wow, you are a beautiful woman, outside and in. Thank you so much for starting this. I look forward to the challenge!
I’m at work, where there’s no sound, so I just watched your vlog without sound.
And it was amazing.
I love your video! Lol. You look great, and you are soo confident, which is Mom Sexy in it’s own right!
Thanks for the reminder that I need to get back into yoga! I really miss it. It made me feel so good and I lost inches immediately! I am working on my post for this. I definitely wish that I had smaller boobs. These DDDs are not fun at all, but there is nothing I can do about them so I guess I will just flaunt them!
You look amazing! Thank you so much for this prompt. I’ll get right on it. It is EXACTLY what I need after Saturday’s weigh in.
I love your blog! I am an aspiring momma blogger!
you are just absolutely amazing
Thanks for the video! If we could all be so real and open with ourselves and others. My adult daughter and I were talking the other day, I had 4 babies and she’s had 6. Neither one of us is skinny, although I wouldn’t call either of us fat. I guess officially we are on the obese side, but you know what? I was at the Y the other day and saw a really skinny woman with no boobs, no butt, no thighs, and thought I am glad I actually have soemthing! I would rather be on the voluptuous(sp?) side than the skinny side! My daughter feels the same way! And you know what, my hubby likes the way I look! I do to, especially in jeans. Now in a bathing suit, that is a little more tricky, but I’m still working on it!

I love this too. You look great, and confidence is the most sexy thing a woman can own.
OMG can’t believe I did another VLOG but I thought this certainly deserved one. I am hiding right now {LOL} but it was fun to do!
Well, admittedly, I’m not embracing my body this week…I am, however, respecting it. Today is the first day I’m giving up coffee, wine, and sugar, all bad fats, and prepackaged food for an entire month. Yup. I’m sick and tired of feeling sick and tired, so I’m respecting my body by giving it what it needs–lots of water, fresh fruits and vegetables, and lean meats. As I write this I’m snacking on celery, carrots, and homemade garlic hummus. My body is a wreck at the moment, so rather than have a pity party about it, I’m taking care of it and giving it what it needs. Hmmm…in a sense I guess I *am* embracing my body…accepting that it needs some TLC and giving it some.
All that said, you’ll probably see me walking around with a *pot* of coffee at Bloggy Boot Camp instead of a cup, lol!
A very positive idea. We all need to focus more on the good points
Mary,
You definitely look amazing and you’ve always been Mom Sexy! I can’t imagine someone like you ever thinking otherwise! I really enjoyed your vlog and loved how you put it all out there. I can’t promise I will link up because it would be really hard for me…but I’m gonna try. I have all week, right?
p.s. I just ordered another Sophie & Lili doll! So glad you introduced them to us—we love them and thank you again!
Love it! What a great vlog…so inspiring…as always!
You know I am completely on board! Just finished up my post. Every woman on the planet needs to see this!
You look great! If I can get around to this this week, I will have to do it. Maybe tomorrow. Hmmm, my wheels are spinning…
BTW… too funny about the boobs! You are sooo right! I wish I could wear normal shirts and find bras that fit. You are lucky mama!
Love this, you are the definition of Mom Sexy!!! I’ll have to get the courage to do a post this week too:)
Your vlogs are always great! This is a fantastic idea – and I salute all the bloggers brave enough to post. I don’t know that I’ll be couragous enough, but I am in total support of all those who do!!
I just love this idea!! Awesome vlog
I’ve been waiting for this week. I’ll be posting at the end of the week. I look forward to this.
Your vlog is great…..just as funny as all heck.
Thank you for this awesome idea.
You showed your butt!
Awesome. LOL.
And I gotta do some yoga, cause DANG! You look HAWT!
I linked up, video style.
GREAT IDEA Mary….
Love it. I hope you get lots of linkups even though there is NO prize, cause we should LOVE our bodies!!!
You go girl! I wish I had a sexy ass unfortunately I share Cameron Diaz’s affliction, a little thing we refer to as Mexican Flat Bootie Disease in my house ( primarily because I am half Mexican and that is the side of my family with the flat booties:) You are beautiful and I am so glad you came up with this. You rock my socks off! Yo inspire me.
This is amazing! I actually posted this today without knowing about this and it fit perfectly! I’m so glad you’re doing this!
If You Got It, Flaunt It!
What a great idea! Now to just convince myself to take a video of myslef! Maybe a photo would work
You have a great and inspirational blog! Keep up the great work… ~ Take Care
Love it! I’m going to try to make a vlog this week in response to your challenge! As a fitness enthusiast, and Stroller Strides franchisee – I hope to learn from your readers/linkers/commenters to continue promoting wellness and body image to moms in my community and around the web!
Great blog! I usually feel more beautiful when I’m pregnant – big tum and all. Maybe that’s why I have 4 kids!
It’s great that you’re doing this. Us moms sometimes need to be reminded to love our bodies! Thanks!
Perfect timing! I’m starting a week of confessions soon, and couldn’t decide whether to start today or when, maybe today is as good a day as any!
Mary, you seriously crack me up!
Loved the vlog, love the Mom Sexy movement. Congrats on all that is going on for you with the new gig and the Parents Connect nominations. You deserve it!
I’ve been thinking about what to vlog about and this is a great idea. I’ll be back on Friday to link up!
Pure confidence IS mom sexy!
That was so awesome. I found this whole thing by Brittney and I think I’m going to join in! You are so fun!

I love this idea. Wish I would have seen it earlier and I would have participated. But, now you’ve sure got me thinking.
I LOVED your post. It was very much needed.
I tried to link up but it wouldn’t let me. I did all the steps, but I couldn’t find my link on your post. That’s okay. Come see anyway.
Thanks again for your reminder about loving my body.
I absolutely love this idea, I think we, as women, NEED to think about ourselves in this way. We need to love the things that make us who we are, WOMEN! Once we love ourselves, no matter what we look like on the outside, we love the little imperfections that make us who we are as real women!
Thank you for this!
Love From A California Momma,
Angela
awesome vlog!!! and awesome idea!!!!! love it!!!!!
:):) just put mine up!!
What a fabulous idea!
I love that you love your butt. That was awesome!
I got brave and embarked on my first vlog for this challenge. =)
Power Yoga? Now you have me intrigued?? I have friends who do hot yoga and abbsolutely LOVE it and they swear they must burn off like 1500 calories during each 90 minute session.
I wish I had your confidence…I can’t find one thing I like about my body anymore. Well, maybe my eyelashes (especially since I’ve started putting vaseline on them every night before bed….wahla, long lashes, who knew?)
Thank you for posting this Vlog…you’re very inspiring, sweet mama!!! And you look fabulous!!!!!
I just have to say I seriously love this carnival. It’s nice to embrace myself for a change!
) Thanks for hosting it. I linked up!
I couldn’t get the clip to play, I’ve been having problems lately. Maybe I need to clean my cache or something. From the other comments it must have been AWESOME!! ;D
I haven’t been happy with much of anything concerning my body for quite some time. However, I have always loved the color of my eyes! Yay!! I can participate!
Hope you don’t mind, I’m linking this into my Awareness Wednesday Linky! ;D
wow..you look a great mom!! You’re totally right! we must love our body !!
I’ve never appreciated my boys (for some reason I refer to my breasts as “boys”) for being small. I guess it is pretty cool to fit into normal sized shirts.
Thanks for this idea – I think it’s a great thing for women to love the way they look.
