Mom Sexy Valentine’s Day Bash: 10 Reasons Why I Love Myself

Happy Valentine’s Day ladies! Welcome to my Mom Sexy Valentine’s Day Bash…I’m so happy you came to my party!

In case you are wondering what this little shin-dig is all about, just watch the video below for info on how you can attend this awesome party.

For those of you who are already in the know, I give you 10 things I love and appreciate about myself:

1. My ass-shaking skills may not be totally up to par with Shakira’s, but they’re still worth bragging about.

2. I’m not ashamed of the fact that I have Bieber fever. And you shouldn’t be either.

3. I’m one hell of a good time at a party. Just ask my friends who I was on vacation with last week. But don’t expect them to reveal any potentially incriminating details.

4. I don’t take myself seriously at all. If I fall flat on my face in a crowded room, I’ll be the first one to make fun of myself and crack jokes. Life’s too short to cry over something like that.

5. I’m a MILF. Or at least I think I’m a MILF. And if you don’t think I’m a MILF then I really don’t give a shit.

6. If you’re having one of those “I don’t feel like a MILF” kind of days, I have an undeniable ability to boost your self esteem and make you think the opposite in about 30 seconds. Try me.

7. As hard as I try to be a bad ass, I’m really a “do the right thing” kind of girl. I believe in karma, and I believe in playing fair and by the rules. But somehow I still manage to give off that “bad ass” vibe.

8. I know that I have a love/hate relationship with them, but right now I’m in a “I love my boobs” phase. They’re small…and they aren’t exactly perky…but they do look good on my bod. They’re proportional…and that’s gotta count for something, right?

9. I make insanely good martinis.

10. I am completely and totally 100% confident with who I am…and I only wish I’d been this way when I was 21. I’ve fully activated my “I don’t give a fu&%” switch when it comes to what others think of me, and I never try to be something I’m not. Because I’m one pretty freakin’ cool chick just the way I am. I’m The Mommyologist, dammit.

Disney On Ice Review: Fun Night For The Whole Family!

Last night, I took my little dude to see Disney On Ice: Mickey’s Magical Journey. This was our first trip to any sort of live event, and it was honestly an unforgettable experience!

Disney On Ice Hits Hartford!

My little man was so excited to see “The Mouse” and Donald Duck on skates and talked about it all day before we went! What I didn’t tell him, was that a special surprise had been arranged for us. We got to do a “Meet and Greet” with Mickey and Minnie Mouse before the show! I thought that his eyeballs were going to pop out of his head when they came out.

Can't Believe He Met "The Mouse!"

Disney On Ice was held at the XL Center in downtown Hartford. We had some time to kill after meeting Mickey and Minnie before the show started, so we went next door to the Hilton Hotel and ate at a great little place called the M&M Coffee Shop. Don’t let the name fool you…they serve booze too. (Priorities)! I would highly recommend grabbing a bite there with your little ones before the show if you go this week!

My mom came with my son and I to see Disney On Ice, and of course, being the awesome Grams that she is, she bought my little guy a souvenir before we went to our seats. He chose a “Peter Pan action figure”, and wouldn’t let go of it the entire night!

Peter Pan is too cool!

We weren’t quite sure what to expect when the show started, and when The Lion King characters came out onto the ice, my son started laughing and pointing and couldn’t believe his eyes!

The show was wonderful, and honestly, the best part for me was watching the joy on my little dude’s face. He is almost 5, so he’s old enough to “get it”, but he’s still young enough to appreciate new experiences. I’d highly recommend bringing your younger kids to Disney On Ice…they will love it as much as your older kids!

Disney On Ice was an exceptional night that I will never forget. It’s a great tradition to start with your family each year…I know we’ll be going back the next time “The Mouse” is in town!

I was just thrilled to find a family friendly restaurant that served cocktails right next door.

Disney On Ice: Mickey’s Magical Journey!

Happy New Year everyone! I don’t know about you, but I’m kind of relieved that the holidays are over. I mean, Christmas is great and fun and all that jazz, but I’m looking forward to getting back into a routine, eating healthy, working out, and taking care of “me” again. Of course, that means that I have one more day to hog out before I officially bring Mom Sexy back for 2011, so it’s pizza and burgers for me today.

The holidays may be over, but I’m so excited because I have one more fun holiday-themed outing planned with my son for this week! We are headed to see Disney On Ice: Mickey’s Magical Journey!

77Kids: Shop, Make A Snowflake, Help A Child!

This past Monday, I had the pleasure of attending the sneak-peek event for the new charity initiative rolled out by 77Kids to benefit local children’s hospitals in the cities of all of their store locations. I was contacted to attend this blogger event by The Motherhood. 77Kids is a new branch of American Eagle, and features adorable clothes for kids of all ages (yes, they have baby stuff)!

The 77Kids store at Westfarms Mall in Farmington, CT is nothing short of fantastic! And the best part? It’s a place where your kids will enjoy shopping too.

The store is totally kid friendly, with fun things to look at on the walls, activities for the kids to do…and yes…even a prize bar where the kiddos can pick out a treat! What kid doesn’t love that?

77Kids American Eagle Prize Bar

77Kids Prize Bar

77Kids features clothes that are cute, fun, and up with the latest trends as far as children’s clothes go. A word of advice to moms, if you get bit by the shopping bug and wander into a 77Kids store for a little holiday shopping, you may wind up going a little overboard. The clothes are pretty hard to resist!

I have to admit, when I saw this little girl’s coat, I had baby fever and wished for a daughter for about five seconds. But then I remembered that the reason my schedule is flexible enough to attend blogger events such as this is because I only have one kid. But I think that every little girl should have this coat!

77Kids Cutest Coat Ever!

77Kids offers high quality children’s clothing, at reasonable prices. I’d say it’s a step up from Old Navy, price equivalent to Gap Kids, but not as expensive/fancy as a store like Janie and Jack.

Throughout the holiday season, in addition to picking up great gifts at 77Kids, you can also help local and national children’s hospitals!

While you are in the store, you can donate as little as 77 cents to your local children’s hospital. All donations from the store at Westfarms will go to Connecticut Children’s Medical Center. After you donate, you will receive a snowflake that you can write your name on and stick on the “Blizzard Charity Window” at the front of the store.

You can also help national children’s hospitals by visiting 77Kids “Wish For Snow” microsite and designing your own snowflake! It only takes a couple of minutes to do, and it’s lots of fun!

77Kids goal is to have a total of 100,000 snowflakes made, and if they reach it, they will donate $25,000 to the local children’s hospitals with the highest in-store donations.

Making a snowflake also enters you in a drawing to win a $77 gift card to 77Kids…just in time for the holidays! One gift card is given away daily, and you can enter as many times as you want by making plenty of snowflakes! You will also be entered into the grand prize drawing, which is a block party for you and 77 friends!

At the blogger event, 77Kids provided me with a $50 to pick up a few goodies for my son. I wound up getting him a rockin t-shirt with a guitar image on it, a cozy hoodie for winter, and a book all about creatures in the ocean!

Would you like to go shopping at 77Kids too? 77Kids and The Motherhood are being kind enough to provide an additional $50 gift card to 77Kids to giveaway for one of my readers!

Here’s how to enter the giveaway and win the $50 gift card to 77Kids:

1. Create a snowflake on the 77Kids microsite. – REQUIRED

2. “Like” 77Kids on Facebook

3. Follow 77Kids on Twitter

Easy enough, right? Make sure to leave a separate comment for each entry, and if I can’t access your email from your profile, make sure to leave it in the comments. This giveaway will start on November 19th at 12:00am ET and will end on December 5th at 12:00pm. I will choose the winner using random.org, and will notify the winner via email.

Good luck!

Embrace Your Body Week: 8/9 – 8/13

Ok ladies, I’ve got a question for you?  How many of you got up today, got dressed, looked in the mirror, and said something negative about the way you look?  I’m sure it went something like this:

“I hate my bra-line bulge.”

“My thighs are just so freakin’ huge.”

“UGH!  My stomach is totally hanging out!”

We are all guilty of criticizing our bodies in one way or another.  It almost seems like it’s in our nature, as women, to be self-loathing when it comes to our appearance.

And I’M OVER IT.

Let’s face it ladies…putting yourself down just isn’t Mom Sexy. In fact, it doesn’t even come close.  And I think we need to celebrate the way we look…wrinkles, dimples, and all.

I’m hoping that you will all join me and link up for a fun event that I’m hosting August 9th – August 13th.

This week is going to be all about self-acceptance, and accentuating the positive attributes of the way we look.  And this is gonna be an easy one to play along with.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE:

1. First, you need to find at least one thing that you love about your body. And don’t even try and tell me that you can’t find anything to love, because that’s just nonsense, and it’s not Mom Sexy, and I don’t have any room for anything OTHER than Mom Sexy over here.

We spend so much time using phrases such as, “I hate…”, or “I can’t stand…”, or “I’m so (insert self-depreciating term here).”

I want you to tell me what you LOVE about the way you look.  It can be your entire body, your legs, your face, or even something as small as your toenails!

2. Grab my button above, then take a photo of yourself and write a blog post (or make a vlog) telling everyone what aspects of your body you EMBRACE, and then stop by The Mommyologist anytime next week to link up your post.

This is a great way to meet some new bloggy friends, and to spread love and positivity to other women.  My goal is for this to turn into a “carnival of compliments”, or something to that effect.  I will be encouraging everyone to visit each and every blogger who links up, and to read their posts and remind them of just how beautiful and Mom Sexy they are.  Because I believe that by joining together, we can inspire more confidence in each other.

We’re bringing Mom Sexy back, dammit!

I will be kicking off Embrace Your Body Week on the 9th with a special vlog telling you about the parts of me that I love.  And I absolutely can’t wait to hear what all of YOU love about YOUR bodies.

I would love your help in spreading the word about this super-positive and fun week!  If you could spare a tweet, I sure would appreciate it!

77Kids “Do Good Day”

On Wednesday, July 14th, I had the pleasure of collaborating with some other local Connecticut and New York bloggers to participate in “Do Good Day”, on behalf of 77Kids and The Motherhood.

77Kids is a new line of retail stores from the parent line, American Eagle. They have super-cute clothes for boys and girls, from toddlers to tweens.

In honor of the grand opening of 11 new stores across the nation, 77Kids launched their Do Good Day campaign.  The Motherhood assembled 11 teams of 7 bloggers in each of the locations to go out on July 14th and do something to give back to the community in some way.

My team had initially planned on visiting a group home for children who have been through traumatic experiences, but we wound up having to go to “Plan B” after a scheduling conflict.

The four of us who were able to attend that day met at Candlewood Town Park in Danbury, CT, on what turned out to be the very first rainy day we’d had in about a month!  After driving around Danbury for a good 45 minutes do to the fact that my GPS did not recognize the address I put in (stupid technology), I finally found the other members of my team, and we went to work assembling our Do Good Day packets to hand out to some lucky people at the Danbury Fair Mall.

Included in each of the packets was a crisp, brand new dollar bill, a list of things you can do to make others smile, and a coupon to 77Kids.  Each of us had 77 packets to put together, and we all worked out of the hatchbacks of our cars to avoid being drizzled on!

(That’s me on the left. The humidity did a number on my hair).

I live about 2 hours away from Danbury, and I had an urgent meeting that I needed to be back at my house by 2pm for, and so my other team members were kind enough to take my packets to the mall with them so that I could get back on the road.  What a bunch of cool girls!

Since our day wound up being kind of a wash-out, we decided that we would just continue with the theme of Do Good Day in our everyday lives, and do more random acts of kindness going forward.

With that spirit in mind, I’m turning comments off for this post, and instead, I’m asking each of you to please pay my other wonderful team members a visit and leave them a meaningful comment on their blog.  Because that’s about the best random act of kindness that we can receive in the blog world, right?
