Date Night With Friends Gone Horribly Wrong

OMG. On Saturday night, my husband and I finally did something we’ve been talking about doing for years, but never actually got around to — until now. We synced up babysitters with two of our awesome couple friends and the six of us went out for drinks and dinner. And it was bad ass. Like a really, freakin’ awesome good time.

The night started off with this:

White cosmo & a stiff vodka.

And after God knows how many more rounds of cocktails, dinner, and getting kicked out of the bar twice (don’t ask) — we decided to call it a night and headed home — talking the entire way about how much fun we had and how we really need to go out and party with our friends more often.

Or at least that’s how I felt till I woke up Sunday morning, in an old Kappa Kappa Gamma t-shirt, none the less.

Ain't she a beauty?

I think it’s safe to say my partying days are over. The end.

How to Make a Crystal Light Martini (VIDEO)

Ahhh. One of my favorite times of year has finally arrived…

The sun stays out past 4pm. You don’t need a parka to run outside and check the mail. And instead of listening to the annoying hum of the snowplow in the mornings, I’m actually hearing birds chirpin’ outside. And it’s music to my ears.

Spring is almost officially here…which means it’s Crystal Light Martini time. I had my first one of the season earlier tonight…and it was REAL good to mama.

Every time I drunk tweet talk about my almost famous Crystal Light Martinis, I get plenty of requests from different people asking me how to make them. And the truth is they’re so freakin’ easy that a 2-year old could probably figure out it. Of course, that would sort of be frowned upon.

A couple summers ago, I made a video demonstrating how exactly to make a Crystal Light Martini. My hair may be a bit lighter now…but my shakin’ skills haven’t changed one bit.

Watch…shake…pour…and enjoy!

I’m In Woman’s World Magazine!

I don’t know about you, but I am a complete and total junkie when it comes to Woman’s World Magazine.  Every time I see a new issue in the check out line at the grocery store, I just cannot resist grabbing one and putting it on the belt.  And I’m not going to lie, I usually get sucked in by the latest diet craze that is featured on the cover…but once I delve deeper into the issue, it’s the delicious and most-definitely-not-fat-free recipes that really hold my interest.

This week, I actually picked up more than one copy of the latest issue of Woman’s World…because The Mommyologist is featured in it!

It’s the June 14th issue, and I am on page 34, in the last box at the bottom of the page, professing my undying love for Crystal Light Lemonade mix.  It’s always fun to see your name in print, but to see your website address? Yeah, it’s way cooler!

I was so excited about it, that I even prepared a little video for all of you!

When you pick up your Crystal Light and Citrus Vodka today, don’t forget to pick up a copy of Woman’s World as well!

C’mon…you know you want to.

Disclosure:  I was not compensated by Woman’s World Magazine, Crystal Light, or Smirnoff for writing this post and making this video.  I was just super-excited to see my name and blog address in print and I wanted to share it with my awesome readers.  I am also a huge fan of Crystal Light martinis and I wanted to make sure that everyone had the tools to try them out for themselves. Please drink responsibly.  And try and refrain from blogging, texting, facebooking, and tweeting after consuming a few of these delicious martinis.  Just trust me on that one.  I’m only looking out for your best interests.

Who Doesn’t Love a Surprise?

Yesterday, I was so pleased to wake up and find that another mommy blogger who I’ve recently started following honored me with this adorable lemonade stand award! Her blog is so cute and I love reading it, so stop on over and check her out at Mommy Wonderland!

There were no official rules on this award, which is great for me because let’s face it…I’m not always the best at being a rule follower 100% of the time! That being said, here is my cute award!

To continue spreading the love, I would like to pass this award on to two other blogging mamas that I’ve recently discovered and love to read:

Stop by and visit them when you have a chance!

The old saying goes, “When life hands you lemons, make lemonade.” I’m putting my own twist on this phrase and saying, “When life hands you lemons, slice ‘em up and use them for a garnish on a Crystal Light Martini!”

For those of you who partake in the drink at the end of a long day, I’m leaving the recipe for you. They are so refreshing on a hot day, on a cold day, and especially on one of those “I am totally at my wit’s end with this kid and I might have to be admitted to a mental institution if I don’t have a cocktail” kind of days. Enjoy!

The Mommyologist’s Crystal Light Martini

Ingredients: (I like to keep these simple so the booze gets in my hand faster)!

Crystal Light Pink Lemonade

Smirnoff Citrus Vodka

Ice

Lemon for garnish

A Metal Shaker and a Smile

Fill the shaker about halfway with ice. Pour in Crystal Light until the shaker is about 3/4 full. Add in a shot or shot and a half of citrus vodka depending on how bad your day was. Shake, pour into a nice, chilled ‘tini glass, add a slice of lemon on the rim…and enjoy!

The Mommyologist’s Last Word: “WARNING: Consuming too many Crystal Light Martinis may lead to drunk blogging. I’m assuming this is as potentially harmful as drunk texting, emailing, etc. Proceed with caution.”
